Jacksonville FL youth shreds!

Jacksnnville, FL – When Patterson Mohrman walks to the top of the 8-foot ramp at the skateboard park near Atlantic beach, everyone pays attention. That's because the four-year-old boy, who stands less than a foot taller than his skateboard, is the youngest in the crowd. "He saw a video and he wanted to skateboard," his mom, Colleen Mohrman told First Coast News. "We thought it was a little dangerous, but apparently he's got a little knack for it." Patterson has only been skateboarding since April, but already, he can drop 8-foot ramps and is working his way toward the 11-foot ramp. His talent doesn't go unnoticed at Skatelab, a private skateboarding park on Mayport Road. Patterson spends between six to eight hours a day there, everyday. "He's one of the youngest kids out here and he just skates his heart out and tries so hard and gets it done," said skateboarder Cory Newton. Skateboarding can be a dangerous sport, but Patterson's parents make sure he wears a helmet and all his protective pads. Patterson will compete in his first competition next Saturday at Skatelab. It's the DC Shoes Back-To-School-Jam competition. He will competing in the 10 years and under division. His dad, Brett Mohrman, says it's not about winning. "It's more about having fun than competition."
